  • How to appropriately communicate with and about children and adults with disabilities

  • Defining People First language and the reasons why it should be used

  • Where to find resources on People First Language

  • Preferred terms and expressions when communicating with our about individuals with disabilities

  • An understanding of disability awareness and the importance of attitudinal change

  • Why the combination of language and behavior (disability etiquette) is important to individuals with disabilities and their family members
